The Silo-Space2 is a new generation of optimised silage trailer to increase the farmers and contractors’ profitability. This new version includes all strong points of its predecessor, the Silo-Space, which have made it a success so far (running gear, moving floor, air brakes, etc.). The Silo-Space2 pushes the boundaries regarding loading capacity and maneuverability. Its design is based on a tapered body with moving floor that ensures a fluid and fast unloading of the silage products. Its supporting chassis allows to maximise the body height, while providing an unrivalled loading capacity (up to 59 m³ with dome!). Designed on a particularly sturdy basis, the Silo-Space2 is also fitted with a JOSKIN hydraulic running gear, which makes it very stable and comfortable to drive, both in fields and on the road.
The Silo-Space2 has a new body, which has been designed on the basis of the strong points of its predecessor. The combination of a “lowered” galvanised chassis with a monocoque body allowed to increase the body height (2.28 m inside) and to reduce the empty weight of the trailer, resulting in a higher payload and longer lifespan. The tapered shape of the body has been kept: the extra 4 cm at the back in relation to the front allows the silage to expand sufficiently during the unloading process for a quick and complete emptying. The rear door has a large clearance and unloading is easy and free of blockages thanks to its large opening, allowing higher loads to always pass under the door. The door is operated by two double-acting hydraulic rams, which are protected by the door arms, and a mechanical locking device with a spring for a perfect closing. The front wall has been completely redesigned: painted and perforated (anti-reflective to the tractor's working lights), it has been designed to load a maximum amount of silage, while offering the user a clear view on the inside of the body. In order to achieve this, our engineers have provided it with a 22° angle and a hinge system making the unloading operations easier by pushing and breaking the material. This mechanism contributes to, among other things, a higher payload. On headlands, the hinge system of the front wall can also be very useful in low position to make loading easier for the forage harvester.
The design of the chassis has been fully reviewed. Based on the experience gained from the thousands of Silo-Space units sold worldwide since their launch in the 1990s, our engineers took up the challenge and managed to combine sturdiness, ergonomics and economy in a brand new integrated chassis. On the Silo-Space2, the chassis is integrated into the body structure and thus forms a monocoque concept for a reduced empty weight and a higher body height for a larger volume. The assembly rests on 250 x 100 x 6 mm profiled tubes and a hot-dip galvanised framework (in the JOSKIN Group's galvanising plant) made of HLE steel. At the back of the integrated chassis, there is a folding bumper, which folds hydraulically under the machine when emptying in order to avoid the accumulation of silage. This system also reduces the possible risks of silage losses on public roads.
The Silo-Space2 is a machine that spends most of its working hours at high speed on public roads, which is why it should be as comfortable as possible. That is why JOSKIN has decided to fit all its Silo-Space2 with a drawbar suspension. On double-axle models, the standard suspension is mechanical. It is ensured by a bundle of cross leaves between the drawbar and the chassis to perfectly absorb shocks or movements. On triple-axle models, the suspension is ensured by two double-acting hydraulic rams with one large-capacity nitrogen accumulator. Nothing is more comfortable! Furthermore, the control box in the cab allows to modify the body slope. It is therefore ideal for your works on headlands, to go on heaps or simply to transfer extra weight to the rear axle of the tractor, especially in difficult harvesting conditions. Finally, all Silo-Space2 are standard fitted with Hydro-Tandem/Tridem bolted running gear. This suspension ensures a 24-cm clearance, a perfect load distribution and a maximal stability, even at high speed.
In order to ensure a long-term sturdiness and powerfulness when unloading, the moving floor of the Silo-Space2 standard includes 2 moving parts with chains driven by 2 hydraulic motors with side gearboxes. The profiled slats are alternately placed in order to ensure an even load distribution. The yaw chains offer a high resistance to traction. Two sets of 4 wearing-off Ertalon rails are placed on both sides of the body to prevent the moving floor and the body floor from scraping each other (steel against steel). The two hydraulic motors driving the moving floor are fitted with two gears: the first one to set the moving floor in motion and progressively increase its speed, and the second one for a quick and regular unloading. The mechanical drive is still available as an option.
All Silo-Space2 are standard fitted with various pieces of pre-equipment to easily add various options, either at the time of the order or later (even years after the purchase). Among the most interesting options, you can find: shredding beaters, the DUO-COVER covering nets, hydraulic extensions, plus many more!
